Bible Studies - Stewardship

Stewardship

What is Stewardship? There are many definitions but, in essence, stewardship is living under the direction and guidance of the Lord and biblical principles, so that you are in a position to be used of Him to support His Church and grow His Kingdom. We are stewards, not owners, of everything God gives us - our time, talent and treasure.
Matthew 6:19-21 tells us "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."
Now it is usually unpleasant (from a human perspective) to teach on stewardship, because it always entails teaching about tithing, giving, money - all the wonderful things that we already know about, but hate hearing about. So with that, here are some of the topics we will look at in the "treasure" part of our study:
  • First things first (there is an order and priority in stewardship)
  • Tithing
  • Stewardship, not ownership
  • The Principle of multiplication
  • The Spirit of (unrighteous) Mammon (breaking it)
  • Need, greed and seed
  • The "gift" of giving

  • This is not a series to make you feel guilty. It is to open up and examine the Scriptures and see what God says about how we can "store up treasures in heaven".
